Dress Rehearsal Saturday, June 8 and Recital Sunday, June 9 held at
Daniel McLaughlin Therrell High School

3099 Panther Trail SW
Atlanta, GA 30311
Showtime is Sunday, June 9 3:00 - 4:00pm
Please note that showtime and your child's drop off times are two different things!
Details outlined below

Pre-Dress Rehearsal/Recital Preparation THIS WEEK!
Check to make sure your child has everything they need!

PRE-DRESS REHEARSAL/RECITAL PREPARATION THIS WEEK!
  • Girls: Pink ballet shoes and pink tights (we suggest trying your child’s tights on, tights should have no holes, no runs, and proper size so they do not gather or bunch at ankle or hang down from the crotch)
  • No underwear please. Pictures will be taken at the dress rehearsal and recital.
  • All hair accessories to put hair in a tight bun. Bobby pins, comb, hairspray. NO headbands or hair bows allowed.
  • Boys: black dress pants, white short sleeved dress shirt, black ballet shoes
  • Please put your child’s name on all clothing and shoes!!!
  • We have their costumes and will dress them out backstage and keep them for the recital. They will wear their costumes home after the recital.
RECITAL PREPARATION TEST RUN (This is suggested to do sometime this week prior to the day of dress rehearsal/recital)

  • Test out make-up. It’s a good idea to try on before the actual day of dress rehearsal to see if your child is okay with the addition to their face! Make-up is optional and we suggest minimal if you decide to use. (Make-up suggestion: NO Red (Pink or coral blush and lipstick only), NO eye make-up, NO nail polish, NO temporary tattoos or body make-up). Please note this is performance standard.
  • For Girls: test out hair: If you have never put your child’s hair up or in a bun, please play with it before the dress rehearsal. We do require hair up (Often short hair can be placed in a bun so we do encourage practice if this is new for you and your child. If they give you any resistance tell them their hair must be up to wear the crown or tiara on stage! J
TALK TO YOUR CHILD ABOUT THE RECITAL
  • I have been extremely humbled by the overall experience in preparation for the recital, so I just wanted to make mention that all of the Kinderdance Teachers are so proud of our little dancers. Please let them know that! This recital experience is much more than the 1-2 minutes they will spend on stage. We have had lots of fun, lots of learning and lots of hard work in preparation for the recital. Congratulate them on what they have already done and already accomplished. Let them know how proud you are and how proud we are! Give them lots of recital hugs. They surely deserve it!

Dress Rehearsal Guidelines
Note the Dress Rehearsal is not only a pre-run of the show, but also a pre-run of the preparation for the show!

REQUIRED DRESS REHEARSAL AND RECITAL ARRIVAL UNIFORM
  • Dress your child in (Girls): the uniform they wear for class. Dress them in pink leotard, pink tights and pink ballet shoes. (No Tap Shoes) We will dress them in their costume backstage. (Boys): Dress them in their black dress pants, white short sleeved dress shirt and black ballet shoes. We will dress them in their costume vest and bow-tie backstage.
  • Girls: Hair up in a tight bun. All hair away from face. Make-up (if you so choose) applied
  • Your child will be dressed back into their uniform prior to Pick Up at the dress rehearsal. (The day of the recital they can wear their costume home or to dinner!)
DROP OFF/REGISTRATION SCHEDULE AND PICK UP SCHEDULE
  • Drop Off/Registration: Please be at Therrell High School Registration Table FIVE MINUTES PRIOR TO your child’s designated times. Click on your child's school (below) to find out dress rehearsal arrival/drop off times.
  • IT IS VERY IMPORTANT TO ARRIVE ON TIME. It is our goal to make everything super kid friendly so that the recital experience is positive from beginning to end. Parents will not be allowed backstage/classrooms during the dress rehearsal or recital. Separation must be done at registration.. This is important from an operational stand point. Do know the children will be having lots of fun backstage!  All backstage support staff will be Kinderdance Instructors, Franchise Owners and Teachers we work with from various locations. Please know your child will be in good hands! All support staff have multi layers of security clearance and decades of experience with children! Once you drop off your child for the dress rehearsal we request to please not return until Pick Up at 12:30pm so we have time to get through all the photos of the children as well as a run through of our finale with all students present.
  • Pick Up: Pick up for all students will be 12:30 PM in the lobby of the school for the dress rehearsal. This is the same location your child will be picked up after the recital. Signs of your child’s Dance Song will be in the lobby so you can locate your little one quickly. Your child's dance song is listed with your arrival/drop off times under your child's school name (below under Dress Rehearsal and Recital Pick Up Times). It is important we have all students present through the entirety of the dress rehearsal as this is when photos will be taken! (More info on photos below). All students will also gather at the very end for their finale dance.

Dress Rehearsal and Recital Drop Off Times

Please make sure you know your child's arrival/drop off time (see links below) for BOTH the dress rehearsal and the recital. Please make sure you arrive on time! We do need all the children for the entirety of the dress rehearsal and recital.  Solo photo shoots, safety checks, dance numbers and finale stage practice will all occur at the dress rehearsal. Recital Guidelines

The Recital Drop Off and Pick Up will run just like the Dress Rehearsal with the exception of picking up your pre-ordered flowers and the actual drop off schedule. Here is a brief run down (TIP: PLEASE READ THOROUGHLY THROUGH THE DRESS REHEARSAL DETAILS to best prepare you for both the dress rehearsal and the recital)
  1. Dress your child in REQUIRED DRESS REHEARSAL AND RECITAL ARRIVAL UNIFORM as mentioned in Dress Rehearsal Guideline  (ensuring all items have their name in them!)  This includes hair and make-up as mentioned in Dress Rehearsal Guideline.
  2. Put on make-up (optional, see guidelines above), put hair up in a tight bun with hairspray (no hair bows or hair bands) hair off skin away from the face. Remember this ‘updo’ will need to be in place through the duration of the recital.
  3. Arrive promptly 5 minutes prior to your designated time. You will sign in at the registration table and then we request to escort your child to the bathroom for a potty break before dropping off at their classroom. After you drop your child off, proceed to the lobby and the auditorium. You can pick up your flowers at the lobby or ask you friend or family member to pick up the flowers. IMPORTANT NOTE: We recommend one person to drop off your child and the rest of your party can wait for you in the lobby with flower pick up or in the auditorium. If you have guests meeting you at the school direct them to the lobby to meet you there.
  4. Sit back and enjoy the show!
  5. After the show, pick up your child in the lobby. Signs of your child’s song will be in the lobby so you can locate your child quickly.

HELPFUL TIP: If you are going out to dinner immediately following the show, we suggest you pack for the girls a light sweater or something they can throw on when you pick them up after the recital. They will be wearing their costume when you pick them up after the recital.

IMPORTANT! Please be timely in your arrival and note the designated arrival times place you at the registration table for drop-off. We request to arrive 5 minutes prior to your designated time. Allow time for parking. Although there is ample room for parking, we expect over 400 people attending.

REMINDER: 3:00pm is SHOWTIME - NOT DROP OFF TIME! PLEASE PREPARE FOR DROP OFF FOR BOTH DRESS REHEARSAL AND RECITAL. ACCORDING TO YOUR CHILD'S ASSIGNED TIME.

 A Little About the Recital

Picture

Our theme for this year's Spring Recital is "Back to the Beat! You will hear many of your favorite 60s and 70s tunes redesigned with children in mind! Songs are sung by young children and danced by young children. It is all about children!  The children are super excited and so are we! As you enjoy your child's dance routine, keep in mind in many of our dances we have combined schools - so that we deliver an enjoyable and time efficient production! Details of those participating in the recital will be listed in your recital brochure you will receive the day of the big event!

PHOTOS AND VIDEOS!

PHOTOS
No Recital is complete without lots of photo options! We will have both digital and package offerings. Single and group shots as well as candid pictures will be made available. We are requesting to refrain from taking photos at the recital. Photo ordering details will be sent to you.
