We have indulged in a chaotic and FUN week at Kinderdance. Miss Pamela had a great time at the R. Kirk Landon performing and teaching her "Bollywood" class. We were excited to have so many participants and dancing feet to learn with! Unfortunately, I was unable to make it to the show, but Miss Shasta snapped a great photo of Miss Pamela. I hope you enjoyed your Week of the Young Child, and stay tuned for more Kinderdance Fun!
One of the most fulfilling aspects of teaching Kinderdance is finding the genius within each child. We teach to the capacity of "the whole child" and find the vitality in each of them. Vitality represents itself in an awakening of the senses, emotional skills, and the impulsive, chaotic nature of the classroom. Ashton-Warner* once spoke of "organic chaos" being a fundamental in her definition of teaching. At Kinderdance, we talk about "working in the chaos" in order to manage and sustain our classroom. Quite accurate of Warner's previous statement. "One must have chaos within to give birth to a dancing star"- Nietzsche *Ashton-Warner spent many years teaching children and using stimulating and often pioneering techniques which she wrote about in her 1963 treatise, Teacher. Her success relied highly on her commitment to "releasing the native imagery and using it for working material". (Awkening Genius, Armstrong, 1998)
