At our most recent meeting, the Kinderdance team talked about the famous theory of multiple intelligences by Howard Gardner.
Howard Gardner, a psychologist and professor of neuroscience from Harvard defines intelligence not as an "IQ", but rather as the skills that enable anyone to gain new knowledge and solve problems.
Here are there areas of multiple intelligence which Gardner covers:
- Verbal-Linguistic
- Logical-mathematical
- Visual-Spatial
- Auditory-musical
- Bodily-Kinesthetic
- Interpersonal
- Intrapersonal
- Naturalistic
The science behind Kinderdance understands that many children are hybrid learners.
Dancers access these areas of intelligence during each class they participate, but Kinder-dancers access even more with specific programming that appeals to Verbal-Linguistic learners, Visual-Spatial learners, Intrapersonal, and more. One could say we have a tool to unlock the genius in each child.
Happy Memorial Day, and have a great weekend!
