While teachers hope to awaken the genius in each child, we also struggle with children closing their hearts, or "shutting down". This can become a dangerous space for both teachers and students, because we do not want our children associating negativity with dance class. It is important for the teacher to perform a self-study, rather than pinpointing aspects of the child's behavior which may be blocking their genius.
There are countless reasons a child may shut down in class, but it is certain that a perceived negative environment can affect the way a child feels and performs.
Not to "modify" Einstein's quote above, but I believe it is the supreme art of the teacher to provide positive rituals in order to produce positive patterns in students. Where negative influences can cause a child to shut down their creativity, positive experiences open the mind and heart for expression.
Just another intrapersonal skill we provide through Kinderdance. Hope to see you all for a fun summer!
